The Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery (IIGJ) proudly celebrates the remarkable journey of Mr. Riday Jain, a third-generation jeweller and graduate of IIGJ, whose innovative spirit and leadership are shaping the future of the jewellery industry.
At just 21, Riday has already demonstrated exceptional vision and entrepreneurial drive. Managing three family business verticals – Dharavi Jewellers (established in 1960 by his grandfather), a flagship store in Mumbai’s iconic Zaveri Bazaar and RS Jewels, a modern manufacturing unit, he represents the perfect blend of tradition and innovation.
Riday’s recent recognition at Glimpz 2025, where he was awarded Best Jewellery Collection by a Male and his team received the Art of Display award, reflects not only his design creativity but also his belief that jewellery is more than adornment, it is storytelling, emotion and art. His surrealist-inspired theme, merging life’s journeys with transport motifs, showcased his ability to think beyond convention.
Speaking about his time at IIGJ, Riday acknowledges the institute’s role in broadening his perspective:
“While my family business gave me practical exposure, IIGJ equipped me with technical expertise, an understanding of trends and a global outlook. The biggest lesson was to think holistically – design, business, storytelling, and innovation go hand in hand.”
What sets Riday apart is his ability to balance legacy with progress. While Dharavi Jewellers continues to serve its loyal community with hallmarked gold, his mother’s brand PR Ratna focuses on polki and heritage jewellery. Meanwhile, RS Jewels drives manufacturing for contemporary designs, and Riday’s personal focus is on lab-grown diamonds, low-karat gold, and innovative retail formats.
From Dharavi’s challenging marketplace where trust, transparency, and value are paramount, Riday has gained a unique perspective that fuels his vision. He is committed to creating new retail experiences that combine affordability, aspirational design, and technology, catering especially to younger consumers seeking versatile and meaningful jewellery.
Looking ahead, Riday envisions building a diverse portfolio of brands, scaling manufacturing exports and launching lab-grown jewellery retail concepts that redefine the Indian market. He also aspires to contribute as a venture capitalist, investing in new ideas and industries that excite him.
Riday’s journey stands as a testament to IIGJ’s mission of nurturing next-generation leaders who blend artistry, business acumen and innovation. It reflects how structured education and industry exposure can empower graduates to reshape India’s jewellery landscape.
