The foundation pooja for IIGJ Mumbai was held in July in the presence of Shri Tanvir Chokshi, Shri Sanjay Kothari, Shri Shripal Kumar Desai, Shri Vikram Mehta, Shri Ashok Gajera, Shri Navin Jashnani, Shri Anil Virani, Shri Mansukh Kothari, Shri Shishir Nevatia, Shri Vasant Mehta, Shri Kirit Bhansali and other dignitaries.
2003
The first Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery was inaugurated on 22nd November, at Mumbai, by Shri Dilip Walse Patil, Hon'ble Minister for Technical Education & Training, in the presence of Dr. B. Mungekar, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, University of Mumbai and Shri L. Mansingh, Director General, Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India.
2006
Inauguration of the first 'Glimpz' (Capstone Project) exhibition. The first batch of 3-Year Diploma in Jewellery Design and Manufacturing program students showcased their theme-based jewellery creations. It was a 3-day exhibition open to the industry and public.
