Job Summary: 

Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery  (IIGJ Mumbai), a subsidiary of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), is seeking an experienced and passionate Faculty member for Jewellery Design (Manual). The role involves teaching design principles, mentoring students, developing curriculum, and staying engaged with industry trends to prepare students for successful careers in jewellery design.

Key Responsibilities: 

1. Teaching and Instruction: 

  • Conduct lectures, workshops, and practical sessions on jewellery design concepts, techniques, and processes. 
  • Instruct students in design methodologies including sketching, rendering, CAD, and traditional craftsmanship. 
  • Provide feedback on student projects and encourage creative thinking. 

2. Curriculum Development: 

  • Design, develop, and update curriculum in line with industry trends and educational goals. 
  • Integrate current industry practices to ensure relevant and up-to-date training. 

3. Mentoring and Advising: 

  • Mentor students academically and professionally in jewellery design and industry practices. 
  • Provide career guidance, portfolio reviews, and job placement support. 

4. Research and Innovation: 

  • Engage in research on materials, techniques, and industry trends. 
  • Contribute through publications, conferences, and industry collaboration. 

5. Studio and Lab Management: 

  • Manage the jewellery design studio/lab ensuring safety, organization, and efficiency. 
  • Supervise equipment and material usage, ensuring adherence to safety protocols. 

6. Assessment and Evaluation: 

  • Develop assessment tools and evaluate students via exams, projects, and presentations. 
  • Provide constructive feedback to support skill improvement. 

7. Industry Engagement: 

  • Build industry relationships to facilitate internships, guest lectures, and exposure. 
  • Collaborate with professionals to create real-world learning opportunities. 

8. Professional Development: 

  • Participate in seminars, training, and workshops to stay updated with industry and teaching practices.

Qualifications & Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Jewellery Design, Fashion Design, or a related field. 
  • 4–5 years of experience in jewellery design with a strong portfolio. 
  • Proficient in design software, traditional techniques, and up-to-date with industry trends. 
  • Prior teaching experience or equivalent industry exposure preferred. 
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
