
The Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery (IIGJ) Mumbai is an initiative of GJEPC and was established under the aegis of the Ministry of Commerce & Industries in 2003. The Institute is located in MIDC Andheri and housed in a modern, fully air-conditioned, six-level building, with a total built-up area of over 14000 sq. ft. The campus reflects the institution’s commitment to quality and dedication to the educational, creative and intellectual needs of students in the field of gems and jewellery.
IIGJ has completed 17+ years of jewellery education training and more than 5000 students have qualified in various jewellery courses.
IIGJ Mumbai collaborated with Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) in 2021 to offer a 3-Year Bachelor of Arts (B.A) in Gems & Jewellery Design. Jewellery management programmes are also conducted in collaboration with top management institutes.
Recently restructured courses are in alignment with industry requirements and are even more intensive and comprehensive, aimed at providing IIGJ students with the best in gem and jewellery education.

CAMPUS FACILITIES
MANUFACTURING WORKSHOP
The workshop at IIGJ Mumbai is equipped with 80 work stations and provides its students the most modern machinery and tools that are required in jewellery manufacturing. Each bench is equipped with a full set of tools and consumables for the job and students get hands-on training on all the equipment.
Fundamentals of alloying the metal, rolling it into plates or wires, more intricate techniques of joining, linking and setting stones and other jewellery manufacturing techniques like casting are taught by experienced faculty members.
Students are taught to use professional casting machines, both automatic semi-automatic along with centrifugal and other machinery such as laser welding machine, wet grinders, graver max and microscopes for micro setting. They are also taught to use finishing equipment include, bench polishers, magnetic polishers, steam jet cleaners, ultrasonic cleaners and sand blasting equipment. CAD LAB
At IIGJ the two CAD Labs are equipped with a total of 75 computer stations. Students are taught CAD design using 2-D software such as CorelDRAW and Photoshop, and 3-D jewellery design software such as Rhinoceros and Matrix. The labs are also enabled with proper audio-visual facilities.
DESIGN STUDIOS
The design studios at IIGJ can accommodate upto 130 students and designed to utilise natural light, which is important to art and design. They are also equipped with audio-visual teaching aids such as Wacom tablets, smart boards and projectors. The furniture is also designed so that students can have ample space for their art materials and drawing sheets.
GEMMOLOGY LAB
The Gemmology Lab is equipped with 40 microscopes and all the necessary equipment to examine, weigh, measure and properly handle gemstones. Students can explore the fascinating world of gemstones and learn from experienced faculty.
LIBRARY
The library at IIGJ Mumbai is a treasure-trove of reference books, journals and periodicals. Library of IIGJ Mumbai which has a splendid reference and lending facilities for books, journals, periodicals, magazines.
AUDITORIUM
The Institute has its own well equipped auditorium with the latest audio visual facilities. With a capacity of 63 seats, the auditorium is used as an additional classroom and also for all events and occasions for students and staff.
