Intern – Gemmology Department

Internship Summary: 

Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery Delhi (IIGJ Delhi), a subsidiary of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), is offering an internship opportunity in the Gemology Department. This role provides hands-on training in gemological practices, offering interns a chance to work with industry-standard tools and professionals. It is ideal for individuals aspiring to build a career in gemology through practical experience and industry exposure. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Assist in the identification, classification, and grading of gemstones. 

• Perform gem testing using gemological instruments under supervision. 

• Record observations and prepare reports based on gem testing and analysis. 

• Assist in the maintenance and organization of lab equipment and tools. 

• Participate in research or special projects as directed by the team. 

• Support faculty during training sessions, workshops, or demonstrations. 

• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure adherence to industry standards. 

Qualifications & Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s degree and Diploma in Gemology from a reputed institute. 

• Basic knowledge of gemstone properties and identification techniques. 

• Familiarity with gemological tools such as refractometers, microscopes, spectrometers, etc. 

• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow instructions. 

• Proficiency in written and spoken English; knowledge of Hindi is an advantage. 

• Proficiency in MS Office. 

• Proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
