Job Summary:
Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery Jaipur (IIGJ Jaipur), a subsidiary of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), is seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Gemmology Faculty member. The ideal candidate will be experienced in gemstone identification, diamond grading, and evaluation, with a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring future gemmologists. The role encompasses academic instruction, curriculum development, lab management, and industry collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Teaching and Instruction:
- Conduct lectures, workshops, and practical sessions on gemmology, covering gemstone identification, diamond grading standards, and treatments.
- Deliver engaging lectures, lab sessions, and field trips to enhance understanding of gemmological concepts and techniques.
- Provide hands-on training using gem testing equipment like microscopes, refractometers, spectrometers, etc.
2. Curriculum Development:
- Design, develop, and regularly update the gemmology curriculum in alignment with industry trends and educational standards.
- Integrate contemporary practices and advancements into course content.
3. Mentoring and Advising:
- Mentor students in gemmological research projects including data collection and analysis.
- Provide career guidance and job placement assistance in the gems and jewellery sector.
4. Research and Innovation:
- Stay updated on advancements in gemmology and integrate relevant updates into teaching.
- Participate in research, conferences, and industry collaborations.
5. Lab & Inventory Management:
- Maintain a safe and organized lab environment, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Supervise equipment and material usage.
- Manage diamond and gemstone inventory and ensure periodic verification.
6. Assessment and Evaluation:
- Develop assessment tools and evaluate student performance through exams, projects, and presentations.
- Provide constructive feedback to aid student growth.
7. Industry Engagement:
- Build and maintain industry relationships to support student internships, guest lectures, and placements.
- Facilitate real-world exposure and networking opportunities for students.
8. Professional Development:
- Attend workshops, training sessions, and seminars to stay current with industry and academic advancements.

Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (preferably in Geology or a related field).
- Professional certification from a recognized gemmological institute (e.g., GIA, FGA, or equivalent).
- Extensive experience in the field of gemstones and diamonds.
- Teaching or relevant industry experience with a passion for mentoring students.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
